French carmaker Citroen may enter India in 2021 with the launch of the C5 Aircross mid-size SUV. While it’ll arrive within the half-moon of next year, the carmaker is already performing on its second product (likely to be a sub-4m SUV) for our market. it had been first spied a few of months back and now, another set of spy shots has surfaced online.
The standout element within the spy shots, which give us our first peek into the camouflaged mule’s interior, may be a floating touchscreen infotainment system. Not much is understood on the features front because the spied model was seen without alloy wheels, rear wiper, and demister, suggesting that it’s probably a lower variant. Given the common equipment on offer within the segment, we expect Citroen to supply the SUV with LED illumination, connected car tech, auto AC and two-tone alloy wheels. Standard safety features are likely to incorporate dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors while traction and stability control are often expected on the upper trims.
Although there’s no official word yet, we expect the SUV to be supported the brand’s CMP platform. it’s the carmaker’s smallest modular platform, compatible with only two engines: a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. While the SUV is certain to be offered with the petrol engine, the supply of the diesel remains not confirmed.
The small SUV are going to be made and unveiled in India, but it’ll be sold globally. albeit it’s a touch smaller than the present crop of sub-4m SUVs, it’ll combat the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Kia Sonet, and therefore the upcoming Renault Kiger. Citroën is predicted to cost the SUV from Rs 7 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).
