Price Hiked up to Rs 1 Lakh by MG Gloster SUV

MG launched its full-size SUV, the Gloster. It was launched on October 08, 2020 with a grant function by MG. 

It’s available in both 6- and 7-seater configurations counting on the variant chosen (Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy). Its introductory pricing ranged from Rs 28.98 lakh to Rs 35.38 lakh (ex-showroom) and were valid until October 31 or the primary 2000 units

The price hike has resulted within the base-spec Super 7-seater variant getting costlier by an entire Rs 1 lakh while the top-spec Savvy 6-seater variant is pricier by only Rs 20,000. 

MG has disclosed that the revised prices will have an additional benefit of  the MG Shield after-sales package that has been on offer since launch. Even with the worth hike, the MG Gloster remains cheaper than the Ford Endeavour and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. Compared to the diesel-powered Toyota Fortuner, it’s cheaper by Rs 69,000.

Under the hood, the Gloster comes with a 2.0-litre diesel in two states of tune, while an 8-speed automatic is obtainable on both. 

The only turbo engine (driving the front wheels) is rated at 163PS and 375Nm while the twin-turbo equipped version (driving all four wheels) produces 218PS and 480Nm.

MG’s full-size SUV have number of rivals in the market :

Ford Endeavour, 

Toyota Fortuner, 

Mahindra Alturas G4, 

Honda CR-V, 

VW Tiguan Allspace, and 

Skoda Kodiaq.
