New Volvo S60 Sedan may likely to appear on November 27

If there’s one Volvo model that’s waiting to travel on sale in our country, it’s the third-gen S60. The carmaker globally revealed the new generation of the sedan back in 2018 and discontinued the second-gen model in July 2019 in India. While it had been alleged to be launched in 2019, the carmaker will now be revealing it on November 27 followed by a launch in Q1 2021.

The third-gen S60 is predicated on an equivalent Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform as its elder sibling, the S90. It draws design cues from the S90 including the signature LED daytime running lamps and C-shaped LED taillights . Inside, it’s likely to possess an identical cabin because the S90 and XC60 because of the vertically-stacked 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4-zone climate control and a Bowers and Wilkins music system.

In terms of safety, Volvo has equipped it with its Pilot Assist system, Run-Off-Road protection and mitigation, City Safety, lane keep assist, and road sign information. While the Pilot Assist system helps the driving force with steering, acceleration and braking at accelerates to 130kmph, the town feature detects, alerts, and avoids collisions with vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and enormous animals through autonomous braking up to 60kmph. Other safety features on offer are adaptive control , cross traffic alert with brake support, and rear collision warning. of these features could make their way on the India-spec model as they’re already available with the smaller XC40 which is on sale here

Volvo offers the third-gen S60 with one 2.0-litre petrol engine across all variants but with different outputs. While the base-spec T5 turbo variant produces 250PS and 350Nm, the mid-spec T6 is out there during a 310PS/400Nm tune. The carmaker is offering the mid- and top-spec T6 and T8 variants as plug-in hybrids with an influence output of 340PS and 400PS respectively. An 8-speed AT is standard across all variants. aside from the base-spec T5 variant, all other variants drive all four wheels. While it’s yet unknown what powertrain options are going to be offered on the India-spec model, we will expect Volvo to supply a plug-in hybrid variant of the sedan here also .

The third-gen S60 is predicted to be priced from Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). it’ll fight it out with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series, and Jaguar XE.
